ONTARIO LIMOUSIN ASSOCIATION ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

Written on March 24th, 2021

Ontario Limousin Association Membership,

Based on the restrictions of travel and gatherings, due to COVID-19, the OLA Board has decided to host its 2021 Annual General Meeting virtually via Zoom. The Board feels that hosting a meeting to connect with its members,  in any way possible is better then postponing until a later date.

In Ontario, the breed is in a very positive spot and we are always looking for new and exciting ideas to move the breed forward, whether that be in the show ring, supporting our strong base of Junior Members, marketing seedstock to producers or pushing the value of the breed’s carcass traits by promoting feeder calf sales.

The meeting is meant to be an information session on what the Board has planned for this year and provide some additional information of our goals. Unfortunately,  we will not be having any educational guest speakers like we have had in past years in an effort to keep the evening to a shorter time line, but CLA General Manager Laura Ecklund will be joining the event to provide some insight and news from a National Board level.

As in any AGM there will be numerous reports from the President, Treasurer and other subcommittees, as well as a call for nominations for new directors, and the presentations of the Margret Madgett and Angus Campbell Awards.

The main change this year will be Polling via Zoom for the four vacant director positions.  Nathan Allen and Emily Gibson will be completing their first three-year term and can be re-elected. We ask that if you are thinking of nominating a possible candidate for the election to do so via email or reach out to any of the current directors ahead of time. This will allow us to prepare the polling ahead of time.  We are all new to this virtual world, so we would like to plan ahead and make the meeting go as smooth as possible.

As we make room for new members, we would like to thank Brent Black and Dan Darling for being key members of the board, as they have both served two three-year terms and their time with us has come to an end.

The OLA Board is looking forward to having as many members as possible join us on the evening on Monday April 26 at 7pm.

Thanks in advance,

Chad Homer
